Our general English courses are communication based, focussing on developing skills that are useful in everyday life. The „student-friendly” Ih methods help language acquistion step by step, while assuring an instant knowledge, following the motto above.
Besides communication, we make sure to develop writing and receptive (reading and listening) skills as well. We teach grammar and vocabulary in context, providing examples that are easy to undertsand. The groups at Ih are often multinational, thus providing a situation when English is a ’must’, and used in an authentic environment.
Our courses consist of 40-lesson-modules (one module=one level), it is posible to join a course midway, depending on the level test. Based on the level system, one has to take 40/54 hours as many times as many modules are needed to achive the required level. Our level map follows the Common European Framework, thus assuring internationally unified and acknowledged determination of levels. (Please see the CEFR in the chart below.) This is useful if you wish to study abroad as the same system can be found all around Europe.
We use the New English File and Speak Out course book series that use listening and reading tasks to present grammar and vocabulary in context, teaching different areas and developing all major skills. Both series contain authentic material and authentic tasks that are important in everyday life (writing an email, CV, asking for directions, etc.)
In order to put students with similar abilities in the same group, we use our own internationally acknowledged level testing system with both writing and speaking elements.
