International House Language School offers courses for children between 5 and 16. Our school hasmany years of experience in teaching young learners, Our professionalism and our care for children make our courses enjoyable and effective for all ages.

Our main goal is to create an encouraging and cheerful atmosphere, making children grow to enjoy the English language and culture and thereby provide a firm foundation of useful and practical knowledge, even for the youngest learners. Our highly qualified and experienced teachers work with children with care and creativity. To enable them to perform as well as possible, teachers are provided with Young Learners training courses that specialise in teaching children. Our communication-focused teaching method provides an effective guide for students’ active participation in the lessons. We use the best teaching material along with class projects and individual activities to develop the children’s creative self-expression and to practice and consolidate the acquired language. Our autumn term runs from September to February, the spring term lasts from February to June.

Learning a language in early childhood?

It has been proved that starting language learning at a young age is effective. Children don’t experience so much embarrassment that would stop them from using sounds and voices different from their mother tongue. They’re more open, enthusiastic and often more receptive to new things.

In order to maintain their enthusiasm, Ih young learner courses are in many ways different from the traditional ones in schools. Our main principal is learning through playing, making sure that the children gain some new knowledge during each and every lesson. We provide a written record of this process, so that parents can also follow their child’s progress. Our main aim is to ensure that the children attend their lessons happily, and that this continues throughout the courses.

In childhood, language learning is much more effective with visual aids (pictures, drawings, colours) and with physical activities (games, competitions, contests). We also provide the children with homework, as revision is an essential part of language acquisition, even at a young age.
